SYNOPSIS

A young otter’s journey reveals the hidden wonders of a wild river.

In a fertile river ecosystem in Northern Portugal, a young Eurasian otter named Kiko discovers the secrets of this fascinating world, populated with fish that predate the dinosaurs and birds that can “fly” underwater. We follow Kiko’s growth from his first explorations outside his family to his independence as an adult hunter and guardian of his territory. With spectacular images, the documentary, shot over four years, offers a fascinating reflection on the importance of rivers as vital corridors of biodiversity.
